I’m Kelly Baxter and I work for the operations team as an operations officer for SG Hambros. Our department assists the private bankers in their day to day work, to ensure the clients get a good service. I’ve been with SG nearly four years now and I was here previously on work experience before that for about a year. Because of my work experience I had already met a few people within the bank, and the bank in general is quite small for a private bank, which allows you to experience different areas of banking that in a bigger bank you wouldn’t normally get to experience. Also the people here were really friendly, there’s a lot of socializing that goes on outside of working hours. When I joined SG I originally started in operations, since then I’ve been able to also work with our client-facing teams, both international and UK based. They do give you a lot of opportunity to be able to change departments and learn different things within different departments. So currently I’m in operations, but I feel like I would also like to try other departments as well. The people are the best part at SG I think. There are a lot of SG events that they do, in this building and the other buildings, and we also do team-building nights, so that’s really good. We also get the opportunity to meet with other entities and socialize with them. There’s a football team, a girls’ football team, jogging club, a fitness club. I would say that’s the best bit about working here.
