My name is Simone Slaats, I work in GED, which is the equity derivatives solutions department of Société Générale. Within that, I’m a vice-president. I work in a team of 5 people. Our team covers the UK and Dutch institutional market. That basically means that on a day-to-day basis we speak with pension funds, insurance companies, banks – in the Netherlands in my case because I have Dutch origins, and my colleagues will do the same for the UK market. I actually joined quite recently, I joined from another bank in London, and I think that if you look at SG as a company, one of their strengths is equity derivatives, so for me, wanting to work in equity derivatives, it made a lot of sense to apply to Société Générale – which I successfully did. My career, as you can imagine, has not been that long yet, since I joined in November, but it was quite a quick one. I’ve learned a lot – equity derivatives was a new product for me – my manager got me up the curve very, very quickly, and I started travelling after – I think – three weeks, so I was already seeing clients again, and right now I’m close to my first deal, so it went quite well. One of the things at Société Générale that really surprised me was people’s enthusiasm and optimism, specially in the market today, when there is a lot negative news in the market, you can feel on the floor that people are still really energetic, enthusiastic, and really going for the business. And that’s something that I think you won’t find at any other bank, specially not at the moment. I think if you are considering applying for the Société Générale you should definitely do so – why I think you should is because it’s a great bank, very smart people, very technical, and very good in – well – cross-asset products. So I encourage everyone to apply.
