Hi. My name is Murtaza Pracha. I’m the head of finance control within the accounting and finance department. Financial control ensures accuracy and completeness of financial information through permanent supervision, profit and loss validation, monitoring of controls, base areas such as transfer pricing. I work with a team of four. I’m also responsible for monitoring controls on operational risk, work for various other accounting projects. I’m relatively new at SG, I’ve been here for around 7 months. I guess one of the best things about SG is its people. Everywhere you go across the bank, different business lines, departments, people are very friendly and professional. I guess that gels very well with one of the business principles at SG: “Our people are our strength”. One of the most interesting things at SG that I’ve found is that people have been working with SG for quite a number of years. I guess that goes on to show how well SG takes care of its people, through job satisfaction, providing growth opportunities, work-life balance. I worked for a big 4 accountancy firm and was looking to move into the investment banking arena. Having worked for big 4 accounting firms most of my career, I wanted to move and work for an employer that was world class, provided similar growth opportunities, and then also gave me opportunities to grow further and specialize.
