Hello, I’m Dania Seiglie, and I’m the managing director in the energy group here at Société Générale in London. I’m responsible for the major oil and gas companies that are clients of SG. I am responsible also for their management globally. One of the best things about being in client management with SG is the ability to deliver the bank’s products globally to our clients, regardless of their location. We are a global institution, following our clients with solutions, regardless of where they are – from the United States to Latin America, to Europe and in Asia. You might ask why SG. Well, having been with SG for 15 years, I have to say that career development at the bank is fabulous. My own personal experience: I began my career at SG in the trade finance group; from there I went to structured finance and now have arrived in a client management role which actually permits me a broader scope of product that the bank can deliver. So career development is really something that make for yourself, you find those areas that are of interest to you, you work with your supervisors and your managers, and you develop a path that will be most fulfilling for you. Additionally it’s important to note that the bank has made concerted efforts in the training of its employees, and as a result we are increasingly finding that skills can be enhanced by some very specific modules and through our HR initiatives: training is a key component of the development of the overall employee. As we know diversity is very important factor and topic and it’s very timely in today’s environment. I am personally so delighted to be able to be part of the UK women’s network. I am the chairperson and founder of the UK women’s network here, and as well a co-founder in the Americas’ women’s network. I believe that in today’s environment the bank recognizes the need to develop all of its talents and not just women, but generally across the board, all diversity, it is an excellent business proposition for the bank and I am delighted to be a critical part in developing that here in the UK. And personally, here in the UK, we are working very closely with the senior women at the organization along with senior management to be able to highlight the ability of some of our women to make them more visible, to work in mentoring programs to assist them in networking, which is something that certainly has been noted as an area where women can do much more to help themselves. So it is an incredible opportunity here at SG, to be able to be part of this important development, for all employees and in particular for women at SG.
